A fun, educational and safe sailing experience on the Great South Bay at Tanner Park. For the novice sailor, these courses emphasize fun and comfort on the water while sailing with an experienced skipper. Participants will be taught basic seamanship, water safety, rigging, trimming the sail and simple knots. This program is a two hour class. Participants must be able to swim (a swim test will be given before the start of the program). Life jackets will be provided. Classes will meet at the dock at Tanner Park Marina.

Eligibility: Adults and children ages 11 and up. Proof of age required at registration.

New this summer! The Town of Babylon Parks Department will be offering a summer basketball league at Tanner Park! The program will consist of two weeks of skills and drills, and 4 weeks of games. Participants will be broken up into 6 teams per age group.

Do you love acting and singing? The Town of Babylon Musical Theatre Program will cover vocal, dance, and acting techniques. Participants will audition and go through the rehearsal process throughout the program. Students will close the summer with a culminating performance of The Little Mermaid Jr (Ages 6-10) and 13 Jr (Ages 11-14).

The Town of Babylon Music Program will be offering residents a guitar camp for students interested in learning about different styles of music ranging from classical guitar to blues to pop/rock. The material covered will include artists within the style of music, theory behind the style, and melodic and patterns of the style.

The camp will be offered in 2-three week sessions, three days a week for an hour each day. The camp will offer a beginner class for students ages10 and up, that teaches the basics of guitar picking, and pop/rock chord progressions. More advanced students, ages 14 and up with at least one year of guitar, will go further into blues and theory.

*Guitar Camp is held in the sunroom in the Phelps Lane Mansion in North Babylon.

Classes are taught by certified yoga instructor Eugene Feis, who holds certificates in Dharma Yoga (200 hour RYT) and Barkan Yoga (500 hour RYT). Each 75-minute class will include breathing (pranayama), meditation, and asana poses, concluding with a deep-healing resting pose (shavasana). Whether you are a beginner or advanced student, you can benefit from either or both classes. The Babylon Bocce Club is happy to announce Bocce Camp at the newly renovated state of the art Tanner Park Bocce Courts. Bocce is becoming one of the most popular sports in America. Many people have played backyard bocce, but have never experienced the exciting competitive side of bocce on a professional bocce court. Come experience the fun and skillful side of the game. We warn you, once you try it you will become hooked.

The Babylon Bocce Club is part of the United States Bocce Federation. During our 4-week camp, our instructors will teach you the “Open Rules” of bocce. You will learn the history, rules, and strategies of the sport of bocce.

The bocce camp is open to anyone 16 years and older of all skill levels. No equipment is needed. Just wear comfortable sneakers (No cleats or studded shoes). Bring a small towel, a drink and even a friend or two.
